Cheltenham Mineral and Geological Society





CMGS is a friendly group of people from all walks of life with a common interest of geology.

New members are always welcomed.

CMGS meets on the second Friday each month except inJanuary and  August, in Shurdington  at The Century  Hall  (see events tab for full details).We generally arrive at around 7.00pm for a talk by a speaker as listed,which starts at 7.30pm and goes on till 9.00pm.Light refreshments are on hand,a good time to have a chat with other members.If you are  interested in joining us just turn up and say hello!


Field Trip Schedule.


We try to organise regular field trips for collecting of minerals and fossils.Details of these trips are presented by Alan,our field trip coordinator ,at the monthly meetings


CMGS People.

Our members come from diverse backgrounds,some quite new to collecting,some very experienced and knowledgable. Remember though its all for interest and fun!

We have a small library of books to borrow, lapidary and other geological equipment is also available .

Specimens and Geological items are sometimes for sale at the meetings with proceeds going back into the society.
